Russian soldiers in Afghanistan, late 80ies.
They wear casual clothes mixed in with standard issue uniform pieces. Just look at the top guy's zip-up sweatshirt with sports emblem (?) , and the bottom guys half-turtleneck sweater and sneakers. These guys are at war!
This is how once upon a time American Sportswear came into being; GIs after WWII turning their favourite military pieces, chinos, t-shirts, etc into casualwear
