This must be the coolest soldiering picture ever. Israeli Army 1973. Recognize the faces? Moshe Dayan and Yitzak Rabin. Photographed at the end of the Yom Kippur war. The bandage around Rabin's head, Dayan's signature eyepatch, and the Tank driver with his cool Ray-Bans looking like Leonard Cohen with a helmet on his head. Rabin seems to have just told a joke. They're relaxed and victorious.It seems a long way from this picture and the spirit it exudes to the recent wholesale bombing of Gaza... with a stop along the way at Sabra and Shatila...
